Why is the right side of America suddenly so freedom of speech just because Phil Robertson,a perfectly good God fearing redneck,said something that he believes to be true,but is perceived by many to be totally bullshit?
Here's the thing.
When the Dixie Chicks said they were ashamed of being from the same state as George Bush they were ostracized,shunned and banned from country radio(and still are until this day!) by the same redneck lovers of free speech.The rightwing,corporate media that always calls anyone that disagrees with it the liberal media,destroyed this popular 'female' singing group 'cuz free speech ain't free'(then they spit).They are allowed to call people niggers and queers but get easily pissed off and offended when other people call them out for saying it.
I don't care what Phil Robertson says.He can say whatever the hell he wants,but defending his GOD and American right to say it strikes me as an odd thing to be so indignant about.
Doesn't the right believe in a free market?Not a fair market,mind you,a free market.If A&E chooses to cut their losses on this because they could lose a fair share of their market,don't they have the right to do so?
I'm sure there is a fair share of 'Mercan Christians that believe what the Duck Dynasty star spouted as good ol' boy values,but there are also a good percentage of American Christians that find what he said as thinly disguised disgusting hate filled bigotry that has nothing to do with our Lord and Savior.
"I am totally against what you are saying,but I will defend-to the death-your right to say it," no longer seems to apply.Perhaps rightly.Perhaps not.Intentionally misleading people with lies instead of facts is legal after all.
But why mislead when you can lead?
This country is no longer a republican democracy,but a country run by commerce and Capitalism.Our country~created by God~has been turned into a den of thieves.
Duck Dy-nasty is just a symptom,not the cause,but for people to feel so adamant over a redneck's right to spew hate speech when our children are being shot in our schools and no one protests that is a troubling sign of how lost our Christian values have become.
This really isn't about Phil then,is it?It's about sheep being led astray.
