An Argument For Giftmas

Hello....uhm..I'd like to...to..er..take the devil's point of view on this..cough..sub- ject,I believe that the atheists that erected a sign next to a Nativity scene ,did it just to get their own religious point of view across.I think that they hoped(nay=prayed;-)for the exact reaction the sign garnered.

Good for them...they got their 'equal religion time'.

But(I like big 'buts' and I can not lie),is Christmas even a religious holiday for most people anymore?Could not the Nativity scene be seen now-a-days more or less as just an early traditional scene of,perhaps,a better called,'Giftmas'?

I mean, come on...the only reason it isn't called,'Giftmas' is because the non-Christian sects like the 'tradition' of the holiday being called,Christmas.

How many Tv specials for Christmas even have Christ in them? One percent? Two?

Christmas,not only in America,but Japan/China,etc,is about giving presents,Santa Claus,the Tree,eggnog and parties.

It's not about the birth of Jesus.

Even among most Christians ,Christmas is only very little about Jesus' birth-maybe an hour for Christmas-eve service.

So...aren't the atheists sort of beating a dead horse here...taking that what very little of Jesus Christ out of the holiday that isn't already drained out of it?

I say the atheists are right:totally take the Christ out of the holiday, put Santa up instead of the Nativity scene and let one's private beliefs of Jesus be celebrated in a church.

In fact,I say:'TAKE THE CHRIST 'OUT' OF CHRISTMAS ALL TOGETHER!LET'S GO ALL THE WAY AND CALL THE HOLIDAY WHAT IT TRULY HAS BECOME:"GIFTMAS"!
