If I Was Still Blogging.

Hello, everyone(or two),these are some of the things I would be blogging about,if I was still blogging on a daily basis....

...proof that China's taking over the world is not necessarily a good thing(like we needed more proof):HAIR BRAIDS made from used condoms[http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/hairband.asp].Sure they are colorful...but am I the only one that thinks of that crazy scene from,'Something About Mary'?

John McCain is a huge horse's ass.His speech to the NAACP[ http://www.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2008/07/14/daily24.html] is proof of that. You always have to read between the lines with this Dick Cheney wantta be.Blaming the teachers and their union for the poor quality of public schools is a Republican no brainer....but...if you think about it...do you really want to vote for someone in these hard economic times that wants to cut the wages and jobs of our fellow Americans?Tax cuts are really going to help fund public schools,too...way to go McDumbass.Democrats maybe donkeys...McCain's just the rear end.

While I am McCain bashing,he also wants to tout Nuclear energy as our energy saving grace.Short term terrorism.Pollute now...forget our grandchildren and their's and their's and their's and their's,etc.

I can't stop now,I am sure this next article has nothing to do with ol' Johnny boy being almost 72...but I sure as hell wish I could use that as an excuse.{Side note:John Kerry went to Vietnam, saw some action, and instead of being portrayed as a war hero(as 'ALL' Americans whom fought for our country should be seen) the-not so-swift boaters wore purple band aids implying he was a coward. It did not matter that the real coward was George W.Bush whom never even showed up for his stateside duties...can you say AWOL?}Mr.McCain's service for his country should not be questioned. That he not only served but was a POW should not be challenged...but this[ http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/16172.html ] is lame.In Pittsburgh, candidate McCain claimed that in the years that he was held prisoner(1967-1973)that the famed Pittsburgh Steeler 'Steel Curtain' defense helped him. When pressured to give names,he named them(most notably:Mel Blount,Mean Joe Greene,Jack Lambert, and Jack Ham) instead of names of the men in his own unit..The only trouble with this is that the 'Steel Curtain' was famous in 1976!

In other versions of this story[http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/07/in-pennsylvania.html],Mr.McCain always mentions the more believable '67 Green Bay Packer's offensive line.

Thank God the swift boater's are on his side or they would be calling John McCain 'The Manchurian Candidate'.I won't go that far,but Mr. McCain, this blatant pandering is just bogus.

I couldn't agree more with today's Mallard Filmore comic, except he forgot to write,'Big Business' across the character's chest.

I plan on seeing the new Batman movie, just because I heard Heath Ledger plays the best villain since Hannibal Lecter.

I am out of time.be good fight fans.

The Comic Of The Week>One Year Post

Greetings, comic fans.It is hard to believe but it has been one year since I have started doing this gig....congratulations to me.Not that I feel worthy or anything.I have missed some great strips[My biggest regret is not posting one of my absolute favorite comics of the year at all.It was the 'Moderately Confused' by Jeff Stahler that had a young girl texting repeatedly over and over-'text text text text text text'-while the father...adult figure was going-' T.E.X.T.'.just a great strip that has stayed with me..and I missed it.].On the other hand I have discovered many, many, many more great comics than I ever thought I could.Naming a strip of the year{cough-Frog Applause-cough} would be ludicrous. The art world of comics(and it's fans) is just too diverse and too large for something akin to that.

The comic world does have it's share of problems...shrinking comic pages-corporation strips-semi- and semi retiring artists(you know who I'm talking about). But the creativity level in the comics has never been stronger.I am proud to be alive in this time of the greatest golden age of comic strips ever.

In a time when Tv cartoons have all become media divas and 3-d animation is controlling the movies-though I see nothing wrong with either of these-and when comic books are so willy nilly,it is the newspaper/on line comics that are the true 1950 style rock stars of the medium. They are the fist raising black power athletes of the Mexico Olympics. They are the Mercury astronauts. They are Classic Coke :back when it had sugar instead of corn syrup. They are...they are...the youth of the nation...oops...I went too far.

Enough patting on the back....here is this week's comics....

....In a week that had soo many important great strips....

...I almost feel guilty going with a corporation strip. But this 'Dennis The Menace' was the only strip that actually made me LOL.That is why it is the comic of the week.

Happy Independence Day

Happy 4th Of July. The United States Of America is 232 years young today!Happy Independence Day America!

On the shore dimly seen, thro' the mists of the deep,Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream;'Tis the star-spangled banner: oh, long may it waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
