Adventures On The Buckeye Trail:Ash Cave

The trail suddenly came upon a huge crevice
...at least a 100 foot drop.

This was the beginning of Ash Cave.It definitely had a WoW! factor.None of us had expected this!

According to the literature,it is the biggest recessed cave in the world. And it is an awesome sight to behold.

We have never seen soo many people on any part of The Buckeye Trail. But,yes, this was the day before the 4th of July, and it is a main tourist attraction right off a main road,so it didn't upset us none.

In fact, the people added relativity to just how big the cave is.It is a monster-both and size and jaw dropping beauty.

It is said that the cave got it's name from a grove of ash trees that used to hide it.It seems it has been a favorite meeting place or secret place to hold conferences.

All that I know is that it was an un- expected joy to come across. If you ever get a chance to see it,I strongly recommend that you do.

It is made of soft sandstone. Robyn did a cute little carving :-)

And of course,so did Tyler.

Here are a couple scenic pictures of Nikolas.

We even saw a deer in the woods...

...up very very close.

[If you click on the photo of Tyler, you maybe even able to see some pixels that look like the deer.]

Adam even chased after it.No more Tv commercials with men fighting rabid bucks for him.

Then we headed back to camp.
